Crochet Along....

So I was looking around favecrafts.com blog (after a little flickr prompt to check it out), and found out that All Free Crochet.com is having a crochet along. Even better, it's for a pillow cover! Since I'm on this pillow kick these days, it is so very perfect for me. Check it out here: Pillow Crochet Along. It started Wednesday of last week, with the gathering of supplies. Today we get part of the pattern to work on for Week 2, and then the rest the following week. Uh, yes, I am excited. LOL

As soon as I read the supply list, I started thinking of what kind of yarn and colors I could use. Then I remember that I got this color purple (my favorite color) eyelash yarn as a Christmas gift....SCORE....So I picked the rest of the yarn/colors based off that eyelash yarn. Check it out below.

Isn't it pretty? Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but it is sparkly. My daughter is gonna love this when it's done.

So anyway, I took a little trip to Michael's....Then I went to Joann's....FOUND IT, even though I didn't know what I was looking for before I got there. :)

I actually already had the purple Gala Yarn, from a previous Big Lots trip.

Now I am ready!!

Forever February....

For this to be the shortest month of the year, it is taking forever to end!

I thought when you are super busy, time is supposed to fly by? Maybe it because I have been so busy this month I have been anticipating the end. Here's the run down:
January 27-28 - Son's College Audition #1 - University of KY
February 3-4 - Daughter's Swim Meet
February 10-11 - Son's College Audition #2 - University of TN
February 18 - Daughters Swim Meet
February 25 - Son's College Audition #3- Morehead State University
March 2-4 - Daughter's State Swim Meet
WHEW!!!!
That's not including the second job and and swim team practice three times a week and Percussion lessons once a week.

I am taking a mini STAYCATION when it is all over. :) Of course I wouldn't change a thing, I mean, what the heck else would I be doing???

Foto Friday # 2 - Air Head

This is my favoritest (is that a word) thing right now! When I was in Walmart the other day, all of the Valentine leftovers were 75% OFF....and I am a sucker for a sale. I got this little metal lunchbox for $1.37. YAY ME! What could I possibly be carrying in my new little case you ask? Well little crochet granny sqaures, of course, DUH. I will share those in another post.

Have a Good Weekend!

I'm on a Roll

A pillow roll that is. :) Still working on using up my scraps......

This stitch is called Box Stitch or Diagonal Stitch, I think I have heard it called both. The first few times I tried it....FAIL! So I found a video, watched it, and finally got the hang of it. Once I got going, it worked up pretty fast.

First Piece

Second Piece

It's 18 inches square, and I really like it. I debated continuing and making more squares and turning it into a blanket, but I am way to impatient for that.

Bumper Pad....

Still on my Scrap/Stash Buster mission (see the first project here)....I decide to make  laptop cover for my daughter. Let me just say, it is long over due. She carrys it in a little tote bag that has zero cushion, and every time she walks through a doorway, "BANG". It's the strangest thing. I cringe every time  hear it. So let's just say it is much needed.

The color choice is a little goofy, but I picked them, because one they were the same weight, and brand, and amount. Then I used this Random Stripe Generator....I love that tool!

She kept asking me when I was gonna be finished with it, so I guess she doesn't mind the colors either.

I used elaastic to help keep it closed. I saw the idea here first. I used what I had on hand but as soon as I can find some that is thicker, I will switch it out.

My son suggested adding a strap to it.....Good idea, let's put that on the to do list. :)

Snackasaurus!

I found the cutest shirt for my daughter...it was perfect for her to wear on Valentine's Day. I love the colors in it.

I think she liked it too! It pretty much summed up the day, she was eating candy when I picked her up from school, in the car on the way home, and right up until dinner time.

Blue mouth and all... I made her go scrub her face and teeth! It was rather gross. :-)

Anyway, I made her a headband with a bow to match her shirt. I got the idea from Creative Yarn for the band, then I just added a bow instead of the flower.

She's cutie, if I say so myself....and I do.  LOL

Happy Valentine's Day!

I made 25 little heart for my daughter to attach to her Valentines for her classmates. I tried a couple of different heart patterns I found on Pinterest, but this is the one I like the most. It was super easy and super quick. You can find it here.

We just use some index cards I got from the Dollar Tree, a hole punch, and a sheet of scrap book paper from Michael's. The paper look like little postage stamps after I cut out the pictures of with my scallop scissors.

We also got little pieces if chocolate candy from Party City for 7 cents each, and attached them to the bottom.

And I think the best part, my daughter got to use her name stamp that we got from Pick your Plum.

I also did two teacher gifts. Easy Peesy! Oversized paperclip and some ribbon (all from the Dollor Spot at Target) and a left over notepad from Christmas time.

New Yarn

I got this yarn as a Chistmas Gift from my boss/friend who is a knitter. She always has the best yarn. I am now totally in love with it. I just need to figure out what I want to make with it. I am thinking Cowl! I have been looking at this pattern Chi-Town Cowl.

Isn't it pretty?

My First Time

I am so excited! This is my first cushion cover ever. I really like the way it turned out. Even better, I used yarn I already had in the house. I am on a scrap busting mission :)

I have to be honest, My original goal was to make these squares into a blanket (another first). But just like I thought, I was over it real quick. I can never commit to a project that takes that much time. Imma instant gratificate type of girl!!!
