Foto Friday # 7 - Go Team?

Tomorrow is the BIG game between University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky. So at school today it's Big Blue Day. My daughter decided to wear Red! I was born and raised in Louisville, and attended the University of Kentucky. I refuse to pick a side, so she picked one for me. :)
If you don't know how crazy the in-state rivalry is here in Kentucky check out this article or better yet, this one.

Rubberband Man!

Ok, well not really rubber bands, more like elastic bands. But I use to like the Rubberband Man commercials. :) Anyway, I found these really cute hairband balls, and $3.50 is not expensive, but I knew I could do it or less, cause I'm cheap like that!

So I took the hairband I bought a few weeks ago, and some left over Styrofoam balls I already had....

$1 Spent

Then I just started wrapping them around

And added even more

Grabbed a second ball, and added some to that

Until I ran out!

Yarn Covered Containers

I ran across this project over on Craftpassion.com and figured, easy enough. Not only easy, but pretty fun too. I found a huge bag of toilet paper rolls (industrial sized) at work. I'm not sure why they had so many of them, but I certainly helped myself to a few...well maybe more than a few :)

I made one:

I covered the inside and the bottom of the container differently than the ones on craft passion

It was cute, it needed a friend, so I made another one:

Then I became sort of addicted... and I made more:

I needed one for every thing that I could possibly put inside a container.

If anyone is interested in how I covered the insides...let me know I have a couple of tubes leftover and would be happy to do a how to. :)

What I'm (still) Working On

Uh, yeah, still working on the Corner Granny... I took a couple of days off from it, and then when I was ready get get back at it, I bought the wrong color of yarn. DUH! Oh well, Michael's is less than 5 minutes from my house. I have a few more rows of the darker red (Cranberry is the color name), and then I'll just have the brown left.

Joshua asked me if I was going to put a border on it, hmmmm...I will have to give that some thought. And if I do, what color should it be?

And of course "Inspector YaYa" is always on his post :)

I have also still been working on my small granny circle in a square blanket. I got all the ends sewn in for the old squares and then I started making new ones.

Well, yes that is my Spongebob lunch box holding the squares :)

The colors are pretty random, because I am using scraps/leftovers only. At least that is my goal as of now.

Over the Weekend

We went to a St. Patrick's Day Parade! The weather was amazing and we had a really fun time.
You can check out all of my pictures over on here.

There was this guy!

And this little guy!

And Irish Step Dancers! And of course now my daughter wants to take lessons. :)

Watched a Hurling match (or is it a game? I don't know)

And then we stood in the muddiest field ever waiting in line for Kettle corn. Amina kept saying "Oh, Imma have to clean my shoes off when we get home." Her tennis shoes WERE new. She was not a happy camper, until....

She had her Kettle corn and was out of the mud.

If you look close...Amina has some rather cute flower hairpins. I made those right before we walked out the door.... Here's a super quick how to:
I had this lei leftover from...uh, some birthday party, it think.
1. Cut the string and pull the flowers off.
2. I was gonna use acrylic paint to paint the bobby pins, but, I didn't have time to wait for it to dry. In comes the nail polish. It dried really quick.
3. The flowers have a small hole in the middle, so I just stuck the top of the bobby pin through it and pulled it to the top, I alternated colors.
4. And done!

Sidenote: I added in some ribbon when I braided her hair.

What I've Been Woking On...

I am still working on my Corner Granny Blanket. It is coming along great. The original pattern calls for 6 color changes, I added one additional color and am thinking about adding another.

Check out more pictures of it. I just start the 2nd shade of red, and then I will do one shade of brown....maybe two.

And of course all things cozy must be inspected by this little guy :)

Ta-Dah! Crochet Along Part 3

I actually finished this pillow Friday of last week. You can see the process here and here. I really like the way it turned out. It's very Spring-y!

My daughter really likes it too...thta's her "Nuby" in the photo.

Now that I am done with this, time for another one. I think I have just one more pillow in mind. Just one more. LOL

Over the Weekend...

There wasn't much crocheting going on....But I did do some shopping :), and dinner with a friend without our children (that doesn't happen muh for either of us). Here are some of the things I picked up:
Everything above came from Target. I just love the St. Patrick's Day shirt.

The YMCA (which is my second job) is having an event called the Women's Half Ton Challenge, it's kind of like the Biggest Loser, sort of. Weekly weigh-ins and exercrise classes, plus they get to use th Y for free duing the 3 month program. All for a $13 donation.

The point of that little side note...LOL...they had vendors there...A Thiry-One rep was there, and I picked up the above items at a discount. The one with my name on it (bottom right picture) I already had, but the Nook is new. I even got to get a free copy of the Hunger Games.

Oh and I did buy some more yarn for my Corner Granny Blanket, three more color changes to go, and I will be finished!

Foto Friday # 4 - Rainy Day

It rain all day! Teachers at my daughter's school had to let the umbrellas dry out somewhere
